Do I have the right to select the shop that will repair my car, or do I have to take where the insurance company tells me to?
In the state of Indiana you have the right to have the shop of your choice repair your vehicle. Some insurance companies will “recommend” that you take it to one of their preferred shops. Govert Auto Body is a preferred shop for many insurers, but ultimately the choice is up to you. We have developed relationships with many insurers to expedite the claims process, and get you back in your car as fast as possible.

The insurance company said I need to get three estimates, do I?
No. There are no states that require more than one estimate. Some insurance companies may tell you to get two or three estimates; this is how they keep costs competitive. Talk to your insurance adjuster first, and most of the time estimates can be faxed or e-mailed to them for approval. Our staff will be more than happy to do this for you.

Is there a charge for an estimate and do I need to make an appointment?
Govert Auto Body is open for estimates Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 5:30 pm and Saturdays from 8:00 am till noon. Walk-Ins are always welcome and there is never a charge for body shop estimates. Depending on the extent of the damage, estimates usually take 15 minutes to a half hour.

Do I need to pay anything when I drop off my car?
No. All payments are due upon completion of repairs. We just need for you to endorse any insurance checks and or sign a direction to pay. We will collect your deductible and any betterment that applies when you pick up your vehicle. If you have not received any payment from the insurance company please let us know.

How soon will the repairs start after I drop off my car and how long will they take?
Repairs to vehicles that are dropped off on appointment will be started immediately. Vehicles dropped of unexpectedly and or towed in will be moved to production as soon as possible. Once the vehicle is estimated, our manager will call you and discuss the repair process. We will not start the repairs until we have the insurance company's approval (if applicable) and all parts are here. Our staff will provide you with an estimated date of completion and a check your vehicle claim number. We do everything in our power to repair your vehicle safely, quickly and keep you updated throughout the process.

What happens if I need a ride or rental car when I drop off my car?
If it is local, our staff will be more than happy to arrange a ride home or to work for you. If you have rental coverage we can call Enterprise to come pick you up even if no arrangements have been made. Govert Auto Body can also provide you with a FREE loaner vehicle should you not be covered for a rental (subject to restrictions and availability).

Will my car be repaired to pre-accident condition?
Yes. Our technicians are extremely well trained and use state-of-the-art repair equipment and methods to ensure that your vehicle will be returned to its pre-accident condition. All repairs and replacement procedures are done to manufacturer specifications and only the highest quality materials are used in the repair of your vehicle.

Are the repairs guaranteed?
All collision repairs preformed at Govert Auto Body carry a written limited lifetime warranty.

Does your warranty cover rust repairs?
Rust repairs can not be guaranteed do to the nature of rust.

Will my paint match?
Govert Auto Body uses Standox paint and a computerized mixing system. These paints have been approved by all major car manufactures. Our finish is applied using tinting and blending techniques by our highly trained technicians. It is then baked on to provide a factory-like finish on your vehicle.

What are your hours?
Both Govert Auto Body locations are open Monday through Friday 7:00am to 5:30pm and on Saturday from 8:00am to noon.

What is a deductible and to whom do I pay it?
A deductible is the agreed amount of the repair bill that is the responsibility of the vehicle owner, according to the insurance policy. It is paid to the repair shop after repairs are complete. It is required by law that the repairer collects this amount. Any shop promising to waive or roll the deductible into the insurance portion of the bill is committing fraud.

What are betterment or depreciation charges?
These are charges determined by the insurance carrier on parts that have a specific "lifetime" associated with them and are pro-rated based on the year and mileage of your vehicle. Examples of these parts are batteries, tires, exhaust components, and specific suspension parts, etc. If your insurance company is charging a betterment fee, you will need to pay that amount at the time of delivery of your vehicle.

If my car needs to be towed, who will arrange this and who pays the charges?
Govert Auto Body can arrange towing at your convenience. Just call (219)934.2302 and our dispatcher will set this up for you. All towing and storage bills are covered by us; even those incurred transporting your vehicle from a storage facility to our shop. These fees are added to the estimate and paid for by the insurance company.

What if you find more damage after the initial estimate?
Because of the nature of collision repairs, it's common to find more damage once repairs are started. Insurance companies understand this, and pay all accident related damage. |
